Axis Hybrid Systems

Axis offer solutions that make migration and expansion seamless. Deployment is easy in all types of environments; indoor, outdoor, wired, and wireless.

Axis has its own open Application Programming Interface (API) called VAPIX.. It makes the Axis network video solutions easy to integrate with other systems and makes them flexible, cost efficient, scalable and importantly, future-proof.

All Axis network cameras and video servers have an HTTP based application programming interface and VAPIX provides functionality for requesting images, controlling network camera functions (such as PTZ), and the setting and retrieval of internal parameter values.

For Axis, no surveillance system is ‘too small’ or ‘too analogue’ that it cannot benefit from the transition to network video technology. Even a single analogue camera connected to a video server will give you a full range of advantages usually associated with digital, networked surveillance.

Axis can put you on your way to a true network video system with solutions that are:

  • Based on open standards working with proven, industry standard equipment; allowing you maximum flexibility.
  • Fully scalable and compatible with your existing infrastructure, giving you the most for your money - money that you’ve already invested in your existing surveillance solution.
  • Reliable and future proof  - enabling you to take advantage of new, advanced features.

Axis network video solutions run on standard Ethernet networking, and can support a number of advanced technologies. Standard IT equipment such as switches, PC servers for video recording and storage, and RAID arrays are used, allowing you to maximise your investment.

Axis has worked in conjunction with system integrators, consultants and application developers to secure the quality and availability of the whole spectrum of network video solutions such as:

  • Customised video management applications
  • Networking infrastructure
  • System integration
  • Information security

A video encoder (also known as a video server) digitizes analogue video signals and sends the new digital images directly over an IP network such as a LAN or the internet. Essentially it transforms your existing analogue video system into a network video system, enabling you to view live images via a web browser or video management software on any local or remote computer on a network. It allows authorised viewers in different locations to access images simultaneously from the same analogue camera as well as network cameras if installed.
